Literature Text

A soul in heaven watched you meet my father
At that moment, it decided that it wanted to be me
to live my life, to be born to you and he
and it came down, down to earth
to begin a journey which would span a lifetime

You bore me for eight months
with the gift of life given to women
and you nurtured my small body
took care of me as I grew
held me and took me into the world

You endured my crying
were relieved by my smiling
Taught me everything I needed to know
Answered my odd questions
Played with me when I was alone

Were always there when I needed you
But helped me to be brave, too
I always missed you when you were away
But I learned to be strong
Caring, love, and strength

You were patient with me
when I came into your room
every morning
and asked you to pull apart
my stuck legos

You scolded me when I did wrong
Taught me to do right instead
Never stopped loving me though
Even when you were angry
or sad

Still had time for me
even with one, two, three daughters
my sisters
and we grew together
under your care

I am proud of what I have become
Thank you, mother
for teaching me
for loving me
for giving this soul a life on earth

I love you, mom
I don't tell her that I love her nearly enough.

I didn't know what else to tell her on Mother's Day other than 'Happy Mother's Day'. So now I will add this as well.
